Ottelien Huckin at an exhibition

About

Ottelien Huckin (born 1993 to Dutch and English parents) graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2016 and attended The Sotheby’s Institute of Art in 2019. Since the UK’s lockdown she has enjoyed expanding her art practice, studying the traditional 17th century craft of Japanning (the European version of Japanese lacquer). Ottelien’s intimate and sensual depictions of the female nude are beautifully contrasted with hand painted details of flowers, birds and insects; often a homage to her experiences in nature, childhood and family home in France.

Ottelien looks forward to a solo exhibition - Astrea, Golden Dawn (6th February - 19th March 2023) - at Bingham Riverhouse Hotel, Richmond, showcasing her new Japanned collection and her paintings from the 2020 Bankside Hotel & Contemporary Collective Artist Residency.
